Driving a Long-Term Pharmaceutical Development Strategy in Vietnam: A Collaborative Approach

Vietnam’s healthcare sector is evolving rapidly, with a strong focus on a long-term development strategy to ensure sustainable growth and improved public health outcomes. The Vietnamese government, through its National Strategy for Developing the Pharmaceutical Industry to 2030 and Vision to 2045, aims to elevate the sector to international standards. One of the key success factors in achieving such ambitious goals is effective collaboration between policymakers, industry leaders, and experts.

Poland has set an example in this regard, fostering dialogue and joint initiatives to create a more competitive and business-friendly regulatory environment. A similar approach could bring significant benefits to Vietnam’s pharmaceutical industry.

Poland has successfully implemented a working group model that brings together business leaders, major business organizations, and industry experts to develop solutions that enhance economic competitiveness and foster a business-friendly environment. Adamed Pharma, the shareholder of Davipharm, actively participates in this initiative.

In February, Małgorzata Adamkiewicz, MD, PhD, President of the Supervisory Board and Co-owner of Adamed Pharma, joined a delegation of Polish business leaders for a meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the Chancellery. The delegation represented the working group formed after the ‘Poland. A Year of Breakthrough’ conference, where the Prime Minister invited major business organizations and experts to contribute to shaping a more competitive economy. The discussion, attended by the Ministers of Finance and Development and Technology, focused on legislative improvements to support entrepreneurship.

This advisory group actively collaborates with the Prime Minister and key ministers to asses regulations and shape policies that drive economic growth. By fostering open dialogue between the business and government, Poland is creating a dynamic framework for sustainable development.

Such initiatives demonstrate that open collaboration and knowledge exchange between government, business, and experts can be a powerful tool for economic growth. This model could serve as an inspiration globally, including Vietnam, where the pharmaceutical industry strives for international competitiveness.

A Vision for Vietnam: Knowledge Exchange and Strategic Advisory

When the Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính along with Ministers of Health, Planning and Investment, and Industry & Trade met with representatives of Adamed Group during his visit to Poland in January 2025, Adamed expressed its openness to establishing a similar advisory group in Vietnam. This initiative could foster cooperation between the government and industry leaders to enhance the country’s healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, should the government find such an initiative beneficial. It would facilitate the sharing of international best practices, scientific expertise, and industry benchmarks, helping Vietnam strengthen its healthcare infrastructure and regulatory frameworks.

By creating a structured platform for knowledge and information exchange, Adamed aims to contribute to Vietnam’s long-term strategy of enhancing pharmaceutical production, increasing research capabilities, and improving access to high-quality medicines for Vietnamese patients and for export. Such collaboration would support upskilling the local pharmaceutical manufacturers as well as align with the government’s objectives to make Vietnam a high-value pharmaceutical production hub of the region.

Commitment to Vietnam’s Long-Term Healthcare Development

Adamed and Davipharm fully support the Vietnamese government’s long-term vision for healthcare and pharmaceutical advancement. Through active engagement, investment, and expertise-sharing, the company is committed to playing a crucial role in Vietnam’s journey toward achieving its healthcare and economic development goals.

The success of Poland’s working group model demonstrates that open collaboration and knowledge exchange between government and business can foster sustainable growth by adapting this model to Vietnam, Adamed, and Davipharm reaffirm their dedication to supporting Vietnam’s long-term healthcare strategy, ensuring improved healthcare outcomes for future generations.
